下面是一段发生在酒吧内的对话，请同学们找出其中的静态动词。

(Michael said about Alice, “She’s beautiful”.)　　

Alice: What’s wrong with you?　　

Helen:Nothing! You know I think Michael really likes you.　　

Alice: Don’t be silly! He’s only being polite.　　

Helen: Do you think so?　　

Alice: Yes, and why are you so interested all of a sudden?　　

Helen: No, no reason really. Look, I’ve got to get back to the flat. I’ve got lots of studying to do.　　

Alice: Oh relax! The books can wait. Tim’s buying the next round. What do you want?

静态动词是表示存在于现在或过去的一种相对静止状态的动词,通常不用于进行时。常见的静态动词可分为四类：1）表达思维活动的动词，如：know, think, want；2）表达情感的动词，如：like; 3）表达拥有和存在的动词，如：be；4）感官动词。

1.一些静态动词可以用于进行时，但它们的意思将改变。如:Is anyone minding the baby while you’re out？

你外出时有人在照看孩子吗？

对比：

Do you mind if I open the window？

我开窗你不会介意吧？

2.有少数几个静态动词间或也可用于进行体，其含义稍有改变，但仍为静态动词。试比较：

Apples cost a lot at this time of year.　　

Apples are costing more these days. 　　

3.当feel用以表示人体感觉时，用进行体或非进行体，意义上没什么差别。如：

A：Are you feeling better？

B：Yes，I feel fine now．

4.含静态动词的句子不能改为被动语态。如：

John has a new bicycle.（不可改为：A new bicycle is had by John.）
